Only tomato plants to survive the blight
- Not sure if Blue Seal counts as a nursery, but it's the only place we buy our starter plants. In 2009, the tomato plants we bought at the Blue Seal on Route 52 in Fishkill, NY were the only ones to survive the blight. Friendly, knowledgeable, dependable.

Stew Leonard's Garden Center
- Parking can be a nightmare, and the inventory can be hit-or-miss, but the garden center at Stew Leonard's in Yonkers often has beautiful, healthy plants and good prices.

H-H-Hot House, Saranac Lake
- The Hot House is a wonderful nursery. The staff are knowledgeable, the prices are reasonable and you can even bring your dog along. They stock quality plants that are suitable for this very cold climate (zones 3 & 4). They also offer employment to developmentally-challenged adults. In the spring, they stock a large number of bedding plants and vegetables, as well as fruit trees and berry bushes.
