Make Glitter Pine Cone Ornaments

You can make simple glitter pine cone ornaments for your Christmas tree. This is a great pine cone craft to do with children.

Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: 15 minutes to prepare, 1 day to dry

Here's How:

  1. Prepare the Pine Cones

    For this craft, you can use either unopened or opened pine cones. Clean opened pine cones with water and bake on a foil-lined cookie sheet at 200F for 1 hour to drive out bugs and further open the cone.

  2. Paint the Tips

    Use a foam paint brush to paint the tips of the pine cone petals with glue.

  3. Apply the Glitter

    Shake glitter onto the glue. You can use one color, or combine several.

    Suggested colors:

    • Green
    • Red
    • White
    • Gold
    • Silver
  4. Dry the Pine Cone

    Allow your glitter pine cone ornament to dry at least overnight.

  5. Create the Hanger

    Attach a loop of ribbon or yarn to the top of the pine cone so it can be hung.
