Congrats! Jomo and Anand named last week's shrub which was jojoba (Simmondsia chinensis). From what I read online, someone accidentally read China instead of Calif. as the native location when they were assigning the scientific name (originally placed in the Buxus genus), so that's how it got to be chinensis. They tried changing it later but had to stick with the original.
Your clues for this week:
- The common name for this shrub, which refers to the fruit, may remind you of a wintry day.
- I took this picture at a water conservation demonstration garden.
- Thomas Jefferson planted this at Monticello, using seeds brought to him by Lewis and Clark
Good luck in naming this shrub!
